Red and White Quilt Heaven

In honor of Valentine's Day, I am re-publishing one of my earlier posts on this exhibition of red and white quilts that was held in New York city last year.

After a decades long passion for quilt collecting, 80 year old Joanna Rose wanted to share her 651 red and white quilts with the public and, with the help of the American Folk Art Museum of NYC, had a temporary 6 day show which appeared to be absolutely stunning........and I missed it by one week!

Here it is again for all of you to enjoy!

Diamond Baratta Design

Diamond Baratta Design is one of a kind!  Two friends, William Diamond and Anthony Baratta, head this design firm in New York City.

Their rooms stand alone in the world of design, as they are able to envision and incorporate ideas that would stop most people in their tracks.  No detail is too small, and if they are unable to find what they need for an interior, they have it custom made.

After many years in the business, they now have a field of experts at their behest - quilters, rugmakers, artists, cabinetmakers, embroiderers and large manufacturers of textiles, such as Lee Jofa, and carpet maker, Stark Carpets, to produce their personal designs.

And therein lies their not so secret 'secret'!  What they produce is one-of-a-kind!

Today, I am posting one of their nautically designed interiors.......and you will see what I mean.

Enjoy!

Oh, how I wish................

How I wish I could have seen this spectacular exhibition of more than 600 red and white quilts recently exhibited at the American Folk Art Museum in New York city.  In fact, I only realized this week that it ended March 30, so although I will not see it in person, I can enjoy the visuals below.

These quilts encompass over 300 years of hand pieced and appliqued work by many, many people, but are now owned by one woman who has very generously donated 50 of them to the permanent collection at the Folk Art Museum.  I will see them during a later visit to New York.

Hope you enjoy them as well!
